Conway & Sor’ey is an Inspirational group based in New Jersey, formed by Talmadge Conway and Walt Sor’ey. Their first project together, entitled “Lean On Me”, has been well-received by their peers in the music industry.
Talmadge Conway, born in North Philly, is a vocalist, writer, arranger, producer, keyboardist, guitarist, and plays the bass and flute. Inspired by Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, Tupac Shakur, and Andre Crouch, he aspired to say something positive that would last for generations to come. He started playing in the bars of Philadelphia, was discovered by Gamble, Huff & Bell of Philadelphia International Records, and became a part of The Sound Of Philadelphia/MFSB.
Conway has 4 Gold Albums, 1 Triple Platinum Album, and a BMI Achievement Award for Best Album Cut Of The Year and is affiliated with The Temptations, The Dells, Shirley Caesar, The Spinners, and more. He has played at a club in Manhattan, New York called Barnie Googles with The Dells, and his original music was showcased Carnegie Hall.
Walt Sor’ey, born in Oklahoma, is a vocalist, writer, keyboardist, organist, vocal instructor, music director, and plays woodwind instruments. His mother was a background singer with Bob Hope, who entertained soldiers performing for the USO Tours. Inspired by Donnie Hathaway, Curtis Mayfield, Billy Paul, Anita Baker, and Julian Vaughn, the gift within himself, made him want to share great music with the world. He was the principal actor of many off Broadway productions such as The Apollo Theatre, The Lambs Theatre & Symphony Hall Of New Jersey and has performed with Billy Preston & Patti LaBelle in Atlantic City.
Sor'ey won The Quaker Oats Contest for Best Gospel Album and aslo won Gospel Musician Of The Decade.
